Groups We Offer

Below is a list and description of the various groups offered at Chrysalis Center. Please call to inquire about what groups are being run at this time, dates and times, and cost. Pre-screening may be required by the respective group leader.

Adolescent Support Group:  This process group targets adolescent girls who are dealing with common mental health concerns, such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.  Some of the topics addressed are stress management, self-esteem, and relationships.

Young Adult Support Group:  This process group is for female college aged students and young adults (early 20’s), who are dealing with common mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.  Frequent topics are body image, assertiveness, and relationships.

Bariatric Support Groups:  We are facilitating several groups for this population so that post weight loss surgery patients can receive continual support during different time frames in their recovery and weight loss journey.  Many of the discussions address physical, emotional, and psychological changes related to the surgery.

 Group 1:  Targets patients who have more recently  undergone bariatric surgery (1-24 months post-op).

 Group 2:  Targets patients who are further out from surgery (24-plus months post-op). Weight maintenance and goal setting are addressed.

“Back on Track” Group: A 6-week nutrition education and support group for weight loss surgery patients who may have not achieved their weight loss goals or are experiencing weight re-gain. This group is led by a registered dietitian who specializes in bariatric nutrition.

Mindful Living Group:  This psycho-educational group is designed around the Dialectical Behavior Therapy model.  Through the use of lectures, experiential activities, group discussion, and homework assignments, group members will learn and develop skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.  These groups operate on a weekly schedule for a consecutive 12 weeks and are closed to new members once the 12-week program begins.

Parent Support Group: This group is designed for parents of teenagers with emotional and behavioral issues.  Utilizing psycho-educational tools and interpersonal processing, parents will learn effective ways to manage their interactions with their teens and strategies for self-care.
