MARY WOOD, MSW, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
(she, her, hers)
Mary Wood is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She brings a compassionate, humanistic, and strengths-based perspective to her work with children, adolescents, and adults. Mary approaches therapy with warmth and authenticity, believing that every individual possesses inherent resilience and the capacity for growth.
Mary has experience providing mental health therapy to children and parents in community-based settings, where she developed a deep understanding of how overwhelming life’s stressors—both past and present—can feel, particularly during uncertain or transitional times. She recognizes that families often carry complex histories alongside current challenges, and she strives to meet each client with empathy, patience, and respect. Mary is passionate about supporting children, teens, and parents by creating a safe and nurturing space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported as they build self-esteem, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthier ways of communicating.
Mary works collaboratively with clients to gently explore unresolved trauma and attachment wounds, helping them move toward healing at a pace that feels manageable and empowering. She understands that trust develops over time and prioritizes creating a therapeutic relationship grounded in safety and consistency. Her approach draws from evidence-based modalities such as Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. She is fully rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, a trauma- and attachment-informed model designed to support young children and their caregivers together in the healing process, strengthening both emotional security and relational connection.
Mary tailors each session to the unique strengths, developmental needs, and goals of every individual and family. She believes therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and responsive, honoring each client’s lived experience while gently guiding growth. Through her thoughtful and individualized approach, Mary helps clients deepen self-understanding, build meaningful connections, and move forward with greater confidence, resilience, and support.
At Chrysalis Center, Mary is committed to fostering hope and empowerment in every client she serves, helping families and individuals cultivate lasting emotional well-being and stronger, healthier relationships.
