Social Work Intern

(she, her, hers)

Madilyn Dombrowski is a Master of Social Work (MSW) intern at Chrysalis Center for Counseling and Eating Disorder Treatment and a first-year graduate student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UNCW, where she conducted undergraduate research examining the relationship between Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) and binge-drinking behaviors. Her early academic focus on trauma and coping sparked her passion for understanding how past experiences shape emotional well-being and relationships throughout life.

Madilyn incorporates a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. She believes that therapy is a collaborative process that empowers individuals to explore their stories with curiosity and compassion. Madilyn’s approach is empathetic, supportive, and strengths-based, helping clients identify barriers to growth while recognizing their inherent resilience and capacity for change.

She is passionate about working with adolescents and young adults who are navigating eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Madilyn is committed to providing inclusive and affirming care for all individuals, including those within the LGBTQIA+ community, and strives to make therapy a safe and validating space where clients feel seen, understood, and accepted.

Madilyn views the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for healing and growth. She values authenticity and connection, helping clients build self-awareness and practical coping skills that support emotional regulation and long-term well-being. Her goal is to help each person develop a stronger sense of self and a renewed sense of hope.

Madilyn is excited to continue her training with the team at Chrysalis Center, where she is expanding her clinical skills and learning from experienced therapists dedicated to restoring hope and empowering change. She looks forward to supporting clients as they discover balance, confidence, and a deeper connection to themselves and others.
